Helping St Albans residents with lifts, shopping, odd jobs and befriending
Shopping

Do you require assistance with your regular food shop?
St Albans Good Neighbour Scheme may be able to provide you with a regular shopper, who can either accompany you to the shops or go there on your behalf.

Regular shopping is normally provided fortnightly, but can be arranged more or less frequently in certain circumstances.
"Going to the supermarket with my volunteer has made the trip a pleasure not a chore."

Contact us

Call us between 9am and 1pm any day of the year to start your shopping enquiry. We will ask for some basic details to help find a suitable volunteer.
Call back

Our shopping coordinator will call you back to discuss your shopping requirements, preferences and how regularly you would like assistance.
Finding a volunteer

We will take the time to carefully find a shopper who can meet your needs either for accompanied trips or to visit the shops on your behalf.
"It's nice to have help packing my bags and carrying them to the car."
Introducing your shopper

Once we've found a suitable volunteer, we will be in touch to finalise arrangements for your shopping and how you will make payment.
Regular shopping

Your regular shopping will continue without you needing to contact us each time, unless you require changes to your shopping arrangements.
Peace of mind

In addition to an interview and two references, all of our volunteers are required to have an enhanced DBS certificate.
